I never set out to be a runner. In April 2024, while doing the school run in the UK, I heard the excitement around the TCS London Marathon on the radio and jokingly entered the ballot with my husband — never expecting to actually get in. When the email arrived confirming I’d won a place, I was in complete disbelief… especially since I couldn’t even run 1km at the time.
That moment sparked a journey that completely changed my life. I started with Couch to 5K, shared my progress online, and quickly fell in love with the feeling running gave me — strength, freedom, and something that was truly mine. What began as a challenge became a passion, and running soon turned into my therapy, my confidence, and my joy.
In December 2024, I completed my first ever half marathon in the UK, and along the way I discovered how much I love the energy and atmosphere of race day, entering a variety of 10km events and soaking up the incredible vibe each time.
After moving to Dubai in March 2025, I continued running wherever I could. In February this year I completed the Burj2Burj Half Marathon, and now I’m deep in marathon training, preparing for the London Marathon — a dream I never knew I had, but one I now feel I was always meant to chase.
By sharing my journey online, I hope to inspire other mid-40 year old mums who may feel like they’ve lost a part of themselves along the way. I want to show that you don’t need to be in your 20s or 30s to start running, and you certainly don’t need to look a certain way or be a certain size.
Running is for everyone — and it gives you so much more than just fitness. It can bring confidence, freedom, strength, and a sense of you again.
