IGNITE Endurance UAE isn't your average run club. Built on the belief that community and coaching should go hand in hand, they've carved out a unique space in Dubai's running scene, one where every session has a purpose and every runner, regardless of level, is treated like an athlete. We sat down with the team behind IGNITE to find out what drives them, what makes their approach different, and why they believe the future of running in the UAE is about so much more than just showing up.

Tell us a bit about your club – when did it start and what inspired its creation?

IGNITE Endurance UAE was created to bridge the gap between social run clubs and high-performance coaching. We saw many runners in Dubai who were enthusiastic but lacked structure, education and long-term guidance. IGNITE was built to combine community with evidence-based training, helping runners & triathletes progress safely, sustainably and with purpose.

What makes your run club unique?

We don’t just organise runs — we coach athletes. Every session has intent. We focus heavily on recovery, strength integration, pacing education and injury prevention. It’s not about how fast you can go today. it’s about how well you can keep progressing six months from now.

How would you describe your community in three words?

Family. Driven. Supportive.

What’s a typical run session like with your club?

Sessions begin with a proper dynamic warm-up and movement prep. We then move into structured intervals, tempo work or aerobic base sessions depending on the phase of training. We finish with cool-downs and often stretches. There’s always context. We explain why we’re doing what we’re doing.

How many members do you currently have, and what distances or types of running do you focus on?

We have a growing base of committed runners ranging from first-time 5km athletes through to marathon, ultra-distance runners and triathletes. Our programming supports 5km, 10km, half marathon, marathon distances, ultras, IRONMANS and more, with a strong emphasis on endurance development.

What does the running community in Dubai mean to you?

Dubai’s running community is ambitious and diverse. People come from all over the world, bringing different cultures, experiences and goals. It’s inspiring and it creates a powerful environment for shared growth.

How has your club helped bring runners together – especially new or first-time runners?

We remove intimidation. New runners are supported with pacing guidance, education and realistic progression. We emphasise consistency over speed and belonging over comparison. That makes it easier for someone to start, and stay!

Do you have any special traditions, post-run rituals or memorable community events?

We’re big on post-run connection — coffee, reflection, and building camaraderie. Some of our most memorable moments have been seeing first-time half marathoners cross finish lines after months of steady work along with seeing people who were once intimidated to go to a group run, now thrive in the environment.

What role do you think running plays in building a stronger, healthier local community?

Running is one of the most accessible tools for physical and mental resilience. It builds discipline, emotional regulation and connection. When people feel stronger in their bodies, they show up stronger in their families and workplaces.

How do you encourage inclusivity within your club – from beginners to seasoned athletes?

Sessions are programmed with tiered pacing groups and adaptable intensities. No one is left behind, and no one is held back. Everyone trains at the level appropriate for their current capacity.

What’s been one of your proudest moments as a club?

Watching runners who once doubted themselves develop confidence, not just in racing, but in their identity as athletes & humans. Progress isn’t just physical; it’s psychological.

Do you have a favourite local race or route in the UAE?

Tie between Burj2Burj & RAK Half Marathon.

The RAK Half Marathon is special — fast, scenic and well-organised. It’s a benchmark race for many of our athletes. And Burj2Burj generates incredible hype and atmosphere which is exciting to be a part of.

For training routes, we value safe, flat stretches that allow controlled pacing and structured work like Kite Beach. However, we love to mix it up with trails, hills and tracks.

How do you think events like The Run Show can help strengthen the running community in the UAE?

Events like The Run Show bring education, brands, coaches and runners into one space. That cross-pollination strengthens the ecosystem. It exposes runners to better information and better standards.

What advice would you give to someone thinking of joining a run club for the first time?

First decide what type of runner you are, albeit social, trail or looking for endurance performance, and if the latter, then choose a club that values progression over ego. Ask whether there’s structure. Ask whether there’s education. And remember, you don’t have to be “fit enough” to join. You get fit by showing up.

How do you see running culture evolving in the UAE over the next few years?

I believe we’ll see a shift from purely social running to more educated, performance-aware communities. Recovery, strength training, longevity and people following structured training plans and coaching programs will become central conversations, not afterthoughts.

What’s next for your club – any big goals, events or collaborations on the horizon?

We’re focused on expanding structured programming, offering more opportunities, deepening education around programming & recovery, and building partnerships that elevate standards, not just participation numbers. Sustainable growth is the priority.
